Hello,
Gordon asked me to take responsibility for handling some financial matters and communicating data with the group. Therefore–

I sent this message to each of you individually because there are a number of different matters to share. In 1 and 2 I am looking for answers and help. The remainder [3 to 6 ] are valuable information for you. It is important that everybody see and understand numbers 3 to 6.

Looking forward to hearing from y’all.
Morris

1. We have money to spend on “supplies” for the team’s trip. I have money I can send you to buy things we still need/want to take.

2. We need room/space for these and others.
Since you are allowed to check two bags of 70 pounds each, PLEASE let me know IF:
A. …you can get all of your personal belongings in one large [huge] suitcase or duffle, as we have spare suitcases that we would like to fill and have you check as your second bag

                                           Or if not that, then
B.	Please let me know about how much space or weight that you have available to add extra items.

3.	Since the change of plane schedules means that we won’t have any time for sight seeing in London, we have all Saturday afternoon to spend at Heathrow Airport. You will have 5 to 6 hours to wait there. There is a quiet room where you can sleep or read. Ann and I plan to bring good paperbacks to read and then leave them with Andra Stevens, AU’s information officer—and hostess of a braai* [picnic] at her beautiful home on Sunday.

4.	We will be on our own in the airport for lunch/supper. This is the time to use your credit cards for whatever you may want to buy. You will receive $20 towards that cost from group funds, but it won’t be usable in the airport. I will try to get some British pounds for your use, but I am not certain how successful I shall be. If I succeed, they will be available at $2 per pound—your charge card will give you a better rate.

5.	It is my intention to arrange to cover all your meals in Harare and London on the way home. I have Harare covered and will work on the London return supper [November 19] and let you know my success or otherwise as we go. All meals [including lunches] in Zimbabwe will be provided.

6. I have managed to obtain the use of two cell phones while the group is in Zimbabwe. These are additional emergency numbers you may leave with somebody at home. Calling from the United States those numbers are 011-263-11-871-901 and 011- 263 – 23 – 692 - 957
Since I have no idea how expensive they will be to use, these are not options for general conversation at the moment as some phones cost as much as $2 a minute, even for incoming calls. The VIM to Zim [www.vimtozim.org] web site will be a better means of general contact.
